Jersey Shore Branch Meeting
November 6, 2008

The Jersey Shore Branch of the Holland Society of New York held a special branch meeting
on Thursday, November 6 at the home of Stuart and Gail VanWinkle. Cocktails and light food
were on hand and a good time was had by all. The highlight of the special meeting was the recognition of Manning Voorhees and his fifty years of service to the Holland Society. Worthy of special note was the fact that in attendance was our newest members Robert (Bob) Wynkoop
and his wife Priscilla (her brother is Pete Ten Eyck of the Texas Branch and is second cousin of
Dick Ten Eyck, Rocky Mountain Branch President.) In addition, past president William Van Winkle and his wife, Beverly were in attendance. The group that evening was also treated to an interesting discussion lead by Holland Society Friend Alfred Wokomir regarding the
Owen Trip Van De Maris circa 1732 Book of Genealogy, handwritten of course, which was on
hand in original form for all to see. The branch discussed several ideas for the next branch
meeting to be held during the summer of 2009. Many thanks were extended to David Riker for
his extraordinary help in documenting the lineage of the most recent Jersey Shore Branch
applicant William I. Riker (sponsored by Jim Van Waggoner).
