New Branch President Appointed for the Florida Branch
Annual Luncheon Scheduled for January 22, 2011 12:00 PM at the Atlantis Country Club
After many years of genuine and sincere service to The Holland Society, Roland Bogardus stepped down as President of the Florida Branch. While we will sorely miss his leadership, we hope he will take every opportunity to join us on various occasions in the future.
At the most recent Board meeting Charles “Charlie” Zabriskie, Jr., a Trustee, was appointed Chairman of the Branches Committee. Charlie has led the New England Branch of the Society for the past eight years during which time it doubled in size and became the largest branch within the Society. Charlie's hallmark has always been to generate an outstanding annual luncheon at interesting places, such as museums and historic sites, which always is accompanied by a one-hour or more reception which offers the members a great opportunity to renew their friendships, meet new members and Friends, and sometimes gain good advice on life in general, travel, education, and other areas of interest.
The Board of Trustees was delighted when Charlie accepted the position of President of the Florida Branch in an attempt to reinstate the annual luncheon, which is currently scheduled for January 22, 2011 at 12:00 PM at the Atlantis Country Club. This should be an outstanding and enjoyable event. Charlie recently stated that he believes in strong communications by phone, letter, e-mail, and personal visits whenever possible. He plans to be in Florida in early fall to conclude the arrangements for the annual luncheon in January. A “heads-up” announcement has been sent via e-mail to all Florida Branch members.
For many years Charlie resided seasonally in Sarasota and Longboat Key and in more recent years shares a property with his son, Walker Zabriskie, in Palm Beach . Hopefully, as the months pass by, an active member will surface who will be able to succeed Charlie since it is his intention to place the leadership of the Florida Branch with a full-time resident and/or a hands-on nonresident who can devote the necessary energy, leadership, and communications skills to the Society's second largest branch.
In the interim, should you wish to be in touch with Charlie, his contact points are listed below.
